So that said, I think it is fair to assume that most reasonable, educated people would certainly like to avoid war whenever possible providing it doesn’t lead to a wider, deadlier conflict later. I don’t think ANYONE actually “likes” war, unless they are completely out of their mind. It isn’t a professional contact sport you know. However, I will say this. If we ARE going to go to war, we shouldn’t jerk around about it, trying to get it done on the cheap or under false pretenses. It should be prosecuted with extreme prejudice, sparing no expense to get the job done completely and quickly, doing everything in our power to secure a decisive victory. Whatever our tactics, we all know that the sooner a war ends, the fewer people are going to die. Which means that it is actually MORE humane and responsible to massively overwhelm the enemy and destroy them utterly in a very short time, than it is to drag out a conflict over the course of many, many years tip-toeing around trying to avoid collateral damage and saving the faces of the politicians back home.
